November 10th, 2025: I think Kate might kill, but she would never steal
- mood:
full - listening: episode 3 of Rosemary & Thyme
every time I have a dream about Elon Musk--which has, thank God, only been twice--it's a very bizarre dream. last night, I dreamt I was sharing a punk house with him and three other geeky, filthy male housemates, somewhere in the Old West End of Muncie. I distinctly remember having a door onto the roof, the way it was in the house I shared with The Country Brat's father when we were first together, and the dynamic was similar: a bunch of slovenly, smelly, overeducated twentysomethings all sharing filthy quarters. anyway, Elon and Grimes had just broken up for the umpteenth time, and he was very depressed and wouldn't leave bed--but I didn't have time for that, because I had an excellence seminar for women of color in tech. when I explained that Grimes and Elon were on the fritz again, another seminar attendee asked who Grimes and Elon were, as though I was typifying two ordinary people as Grimes and Elon.
"no," I replied "I mean I actually fuck with Elon." and her mouth just went agape.
it was much better than the last dream I had about Elon Musk, which was lewd and related to his purported pregnancy fetish. that's all I'll share with the rest of the class. in both cases, I couldn't wait to get up. there are a great many things about my life that make me happy, but not being closely involved in any capacity with Elon Musk is definitely one of them.
today when I woke up, there were a couple inches of snow on the ground. we were expecting some snow, maybe a dusting, but it turned into more and cancelled school. out here in the county, we're always the last to be salted, sanded, and plowed--and the first to suffer the consequences of bad weather. a couple winters ago, I careened my truck into a brick mailbox, destroying it. (the mailbox, not my truck.) despite having spent most of my life in the Midwest--the first time I drove a car was in snow--I'm absolutely shit at driving in winter. (then again, I'm absolutely shit at driving in summer, too.)
so today's been incredibly easy and business as usual. my usual work, a few side projects, and some meals in between making my way through Enshittification. the non-alcoholic beer section at my nearest grocery has been absolutely popping off lately so I'm drinking an NA sour. back in my drinking days, our local craft beer bar had this amazing blueberry ale on tap--and it didn't hurt it was like 10% ABV. can't do that anymore, but I gotta say, I love this beer.
I'm enjoying the beer with this show I'm watching called Rosemary & Thyme about this middle-aged bff duo who garden and solve criminal mysteries. I used to love true crime documentaries, dramas, and podcasts, but it turns out that subjecting your brain to a regular stream of actual murders that actually happened is not very good for it. (my justification was that I've got multiple family members who were either victims or perpetrators of violent crimes, and this was my way to cope. not sure how sound that logic is anymore, but here we are.) anyway, Rosemary & Thyme is a delightful surrogate. it's British, so it makes me feel very intelligent watching it, and it's got one of my favorite actresses: Pam Ferris.
anyway, may as well cap this post with a list of improvements I'd like to make to this site:
- "previous" and "next" buttons in the right sidebar of the read section, with JavaScript to tell which entries those are
- changing the "change theme" button to two buttons specifying which themes to change to, eventually increasing to three or more themes
- a retro graphics section in the build section, for blinkies, glitters, 100x100 icons, stamps, etc.
- troubleshooting why my Neocities thumbnail doesn't show the css; I mean, I know it's because the js loads the css, but I gotta get it to do that soon enough to change the thumbnail lol
- getting the links in the 95 layout to look right (which is easy, I'm just lazy)
